Strategy
Lion’s focus
Lion Energy’s strategy is centred on two priorities: unlocking the value of the East Seram PSC and selectively pursuing new oil and gas opportunities across Southeast Asia.
The Company seeks to combine its extensive Indonesian operating, technical and commercial experience with disciplined capital allocation, targeting opportunities where its skills, networks, relationships and regional knowledge can provide a competitive advantage.
East Seram PSC
- Focus capital and management attention on the East Seram PSC, where Lion is Operator and holds a 45% working interest
- Progress Bula Karang-1 as the first test of the broader Bula Bay transition-zone opportunity
- Use high-resolution very-shallow-water seismic and deviated land-based drilling to access offshore targets in a cost-effective manner
- Leverage existing oil and gas infrastructure to reduce potential development costs and accelerate commercialisation in the event of success
- Progress Lion’s broader portfolio of shallow-water and larger fold-belt exploration opportunities across the East Seram PSC
- Maintain meaningful exposure to exploration success while managing Lion’s capital commitments through strategic partnering
Southeast Asia growth opportunities
- Actively review new oil and gas opportunities across Southeast Asia where Lion’s regional experience and capabilities can provide a competitive advantage
- Focus on opportunities where Lion can leverage its existing skills, networks, relationships and operating experience
- Prioritise assets with production, or a clear pathway to production and early commercialisation, together with meaningful development or exploration upside
- Seek opportunities where Lion can add value through active technical, commercial and operational involvement
- Apply disciplined technical, commercial and financial evaluation to potential acquisitions and new ventures
Capital discipline and shareholder value
- Prioritise opportunities offering material value and growth potential relative to Lion’s capital exposure
- Use strategic partnerships and farm-out structures where appropriate to reduce funding requirements while retaining meaningful exposure to success
- Maintain a disciplined approach to portfolio management and capital allocation
- Focus investment on opportunities capable of delivering growth in production, reserves, resources and cash flow
